Visit from the ISB

After just two weeks of being together the Slides had the opportunity to play for the Salvation Army's top band - the International Staff Band.

The weekend began on Saturday night as the Slides' four members attended the ISB concert at the Tustin Ranch corps. The concert was both  inspiring and entertaining.
On Sunday morning the boys were more than privileged to worship with the members of the ISB in their home corps, Pasadena Tabernacle. After many running jokes about opening for the ISB concert, the Slides finally got their chance to make their public debut, and in front of such a talented group of musicians. After lunch, the Slides played "April Showers" for a small group of ISB members and TAB members. In attendance were; the prinicpal cornetist of the ISB, Kevin Ashman, principal trombonist, Andrew Justice, conductor Dr. Stephen Cobb, and TMS Neil Smith, among many others. The Slides finished to a loud applause from the audience and words of encouragement from members of the ISB.

In a paraphrase, Kevin Ashman said that the sound was very good, and that the combination of instruments provided a unique sound. Andrew Justice also enjoyed the performance and said that the Slides could really go far because they looked good and people will really enjoy the concept and aesthetic. Hear it for yourself here.

The Slides were very humbled by the experience and were very pleased to listen to the ISB one more time in a small concert on Sunday afternoon.
